YWFT Headliner — The Typeface Behind the Brand
YWFT Headliner is the grotesque sans-serif at the core of YouWorkForThem’s own identity. Designed in-house, it draws from the visual language of classic event typography while staying practical for digital-first work. Nine weights run from hairline-thin to full Black, with a variable font that spans the entire range in a single file. The 2026 update brings the most significant refinements since its release: redrawn letterforms on key characters including S, a, O, g, b, d, c, and C, a near-complete kerning rework across all weights, improved spacing with particular attention to the lighter cuts, and over 40 new glyphs. Curve quality is up while node count is down by as much as 40%.
Design & Visual Character
Headliner sits in the grotesque tradition — think the warmth of Aktiv Grotesk or the approachability of Proxima Nova — but with more personality at large sizes and very unique alternate options. The letterforms carry subtle quirks that read as neutral at text sizes and expressive at display scale. It’s wider and more open than geometric grotesques like Futura, and has more personalty than the bland design of Helvetica. That middle ground is what makes it adaptable: it can anchor a bold festival poster just as naturally as a clean SaaS interface. The weight range earns its breadth too — the lighter cuts are genuinely delicate, while Black holds its own at billboard scale. It performs best in headlines, logotype work, event branding, editorial layouts, and UI contexts where the type needs to carry visual weight without feeling aggressive.
OpenType & Language Support
OpenType support has been overhauled in 2026. Former .alt alternates have moved into organized Stylistic Sets, making them easier to access across applications. Alternate numeral forms are now available for 2, 3, 6, and 9. Full Vietnamese language support has been added alongside existing Greek and extended Latin coverage, bringing the total glyph count to over 610.
